8th Afternoon for Doctorates
At TH Köln, the Afternoon for Doctorates is an opportunity for doctoral researches to get to know each other, engage in networking, and speak with the university administration. Besides providing information for the doctoral researches, the event is also used as a panel for the attendees to voice their needs and requests and to give feedback.
After an opening by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Becker, Vice President for Research and Knowledge Transfer, the qualification program „Coaching for Doctoral Researchers“ was introduced and the speakers of the Doctoral Convent, Christine Kleffner and Tim Jannusch, talked about their experiences as doctoral researchers. Following this, Sabine Päsler and Verena Limper from the initiative „Erste Generation Promotion e.V.“ (Frist Generation Doctorates) presented their support program for doctoral researchers.
Prof. Dr. Hermann Rösch from the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies gave a keynote speech about the topic of „Ethics/Responsibility in Research“. In the form of a World Café the doctoral researchers had the opportunity to discuss the issue of responsibility in research within their respective area of research. In the end, the results were debated with the whole group.
The Afternoon for Doctoral Researchers is organized by Graduate Center TH Köln, in cooperation with the Doctoral Convent. It is held annually since 2012.
