The public lecture series of the KISDtalks will on June 25 host two guest talks from designers from Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art, Ramat Gan, Israel. Ayelet Karmon will elaborate on the topic of "The Next Textile" while David Spectre will in "Criminalizing Design" discuss questions about the commonness/disparity of design and criminal investigation.

Textile innovation is constantly evolving, drawing attention to certain areas in the near future functioning between hyper-materiality and non-object. What makes it such a dynamic field? Architect Ayelet Karmon, Managing Director of CIRTex at Shenkar - The David & Barbara Blumenthal Israel Center for Innovation and Research in Textiles, will talk about her latest projects, what we can expect will happen next for textiles, and how it reflects our society.

KISDtalk: "Criminalizing Design"
Is there anything designers need to learn from criminals and criminal investigators? David Spectre has a unique perspective into how two seemingly disparate worlds; design and criminal investigation are closely linked. He will demonstrate these links through real world examples taken from product and service design projects he has led.
David Spectre is a faculty member at Shenkar College in the Industrial Design department; he is the director of the Rozen Institute for Environmental Thinking and a founder and chief designer at 4C, a design studio that specializes in sustainable product design.
The talks will be held in English language.
The KISDtalks are a public lecture series on relevant perspectives of design. They give space for an open-minded and profound analysis and reflexion of the manifold issues of design, culture, society, technology, and different scientific disciplines. Topics are interdisciplinary, integrative, and provide internationality by domestic and international speakers.
The talks take place on specified dates on a Tuesday at 5:30 pm in the conference room 11 at KISD. The 60-90 minutes-long presentations with “Q&A“ are a public event and free of charge.
