This lecture focuses on refugee-led governance and political agency at the intersection of displacement and disability. Refugees with disabilities face unique and often overlooked challenges, including barriers to healthcare, education, employment, and protection, alongside heightened risks of violence, exploitation, and social exclusion.
At the same time, refugees with disabilities navigate a political environment shaped by conflicting developments. On the one hand, restrictive state-centered migration policies, rising anti-refugee rhetoric, and processes of securitization limit opportunities for political participation. On the other hand, a global shift toward meaningful participation, combined with funding constraints in humanitarian systems, has increased attention to community-centered and refugee-led approaches. In this context, refugee-led organizations (RLOs) have gained recognition as relevant stakeholders while actively claiming their rights to political agency and decision-making power.
The lecture explores multiple arenas of political engagement, including organizational leadership, network-building, and participation in advisory and consultative bodies.

Inventing the Future –

Economic, social, and ecological crises around the world are reshaping the scope and responsibilities of social work. Poverty, climate emergencies, environmental degradation, populism and racism, inadequate healthcare, precarious international human rights, and forced migration due to wars and conflicts are driving profound social change.
This English-language online lecture series, organized by several universities and the International Social Work Section of the DGSA, presents current projects, contributions, and debates from different regions worldwide. It offers insights into the diverse approaches and critical discourses shaping social work today.
