International Exchange and Interdisciplinary Dialogue of DITES with Avans University

The annual ideas workshop (Ideenwerkstatt) of the research centre DITES (Digitalisation and Social Services) at TH Köln brought together researchers from various disciplines to reflect on current developments at the intersection of digitalisation and social services.

This year’s programme involved a visit to the Pioneers Alliance partner Avans Hogeschool in Breda. Participants were welcomed by colleagues from Avans and engaged in a lively exchange about research approaches, teaching formats, and institutional structures. A guided tour of the campus provided insights into Avans' learning environment, which is shaped by collaborative spaces and an emphasis on practice-oriented learning.

Back together, the DITES group resumed its internal workshop format, focusing on in-depth interdisciplinary discussions. Key topics included the role of digitality in shaping public discourse, the dynamics of information and ownership in digital communication, and the concept of responsible design. The discussions were informed by the diverse expertise of participants and aimed to identify shared research interests and potential project ideas.

The workshop once again demonstrated the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and international exchange in addressing complex societal questions related to digital transformation.

Die jährliche Ideenwerkstatt des Forschungszentrums DITES (Digitalisierung und Soziale Dienste) an der TH Köln brachte Forschende aus verschiedenen Disziplinen zusammen, um aktuelle Entwicklungen an der Schnittstelle von Digitalisierung und sozialen Diensten zu reflektieren.

Das diesjährige Programm beinhaltete einen Besuch bei der Pioneers Alliance - Partnerinstitution Avans Hogeschool in Breda. Die Teilnehmenden wurden herzlich von den Kolleg*innen empfangen und tauschten sich über Forschungsansätze, Lehrformate und institutionelle Strukturen aus. Eine geführte Tour über den Campus ermöglichte Einblicke in die Lernumgebung von Avans, die durch kollaborative Räume und einen starken Praxisbezug geprägt ist.

Wieder unter sich nahm die DITES-Gruppe das bewährte Workshop-Format wieder auf. Im Fokus standen vertiefte interdisziplinäre Diskussionen. Zentrale Themen waren die Rolle der Digitalität in der öffentlichen Kommunikation, Dynamiken von Information und Eigentum im digitalen Raum sowie das Konzept des verantwortungsvollen Designs. Die Gespräche profitierten von der vielfältigen Expertise der Teilnehmenden und zielten auf die Entwicklung gemeinsamer Forschungsperspektiven und Projektideen.

Die Werkstatt zeigte, welchen Mehrwert interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit und internationaler Austausch für die Bearbeitung komplexer gesellschaftlicher Fragestellungen im Kontext digitaler Transformation bieten.
