13th Afternoon for Doctorates
Already for the 13th time, on November 16, 2021, the Afternoon for Doctorates took place. The event’s primary goal is to create a space for doctoral researchers at TH Köln to get to know each other and network. During the virtual meeting, the participants got into conversation with each other and with the university management.

After a welcome by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Becker, Vice President for Research and Knowledge Transfer, Merle Ingenfeld from the Graduate Center Service Office, introduced the current program of the Graduate Center.
Afterward, Catherine Miebach (Gründungsservice, TH Köln) and Lukas Knauf (Transferscout) gave input on the topic of "Establishing career perspectives" and informed about the relevant offers available to doctoral researchers.
Sergej Baum, Hannah Flock, and Tim Jannusch then reported on their experiences while and at the end of their doctorates and shared their 'lessons learned' with the doctoral researchers.
Finally, the election of the deputy doctoral researcher spokesperson was held, as Tim Jannusch is stepping down after half of the term of office due to his successful graduation as a doctoral researcher. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Becker thanked him for his commitment to the doctorates convention. Now René Degen takes over the function as elected deputy speaker, while Juliane Ressel continues as speaker. Meike Grimme was included in the team of representatives.
Finally, all participants had the opportunity to meet in a virtual network room for an informal exchange. In line with the topic of start-ups, the ruumio platform, a start-up of students of TH Köln, was used.
Graduate Center of TH Köln organizes the Afternoon for Doctorates once or twice a year in cooperation with the doctoral representatives of TH Köln. It has been taking place since 2012. The 14th afternoon of the doctoral studies is expected to take place on May 10th, 2022 - all doctoral candidates at TH Köln are cordially invited.
