Die Veranstaltung wird als Präsenzveranstaltung mit Online-Anteilen durchgeführt. Sie setzt sich zusammen aus Präsenzunterricht vor Ort und regelmäßig stattfindenden E-Learning-Einheiten auf ILU. Die Präsenz- und die E-Learning-Einheiten sind inhaltlich und methodisch miteinander verzahnt und werden durch Aufgaben zum vertiefenden Selbststudium sowie weitere Selbstlernanteile ergänzt.

- Präsenzunterricht: Do, 16.00-19.15 Uhr, Campus Deutz (4 SWS, insgesamt 44 Unterrichtseinheiten)
- E-Learning-Einheiten: regelmäßig stattfindend über ILU (insgesamt 16 Unterrichtseinheiten)

Hinweis: Die ECTS-Punkte beziehen sich auf den Arbeitsaufwand, der mit einer Lehrveranstaltung verbunden ist. Ein ECTS-Punkt entspricht einer Arbeitsleistung von 25 bis max. 30 Stunden. Wir empfehlen Ihnen, dies bei Ihrer Entscheidung für ein Sprachmodul zu berücksichtigen.
Leistungsnachweis
Portfolio, Projektarbeit, Präsentationen, regelmäßige und aktive Mitarbeit in den Präsenzsitzungen sowie Bearbeitung der E-Learning-Einheiten
Voraussetzungen für die Teilnahme
- Student*in an der TH Köln
- Bereitschaft zu aktiver Teilnahme am Kurs
- Sprachkenntnisse auf dem Niveau B2/B2+, nachgewiesen durch Einstufungstest des SLZ (nicht älter als zwei Semester) oder entsprechendes Zertifikat (nicht älter als zwei Jahre)
- technische Ausstattung, um an den E-Learning-Einheiten auf ILU teilzunehmen: PC/Laptop mit Kamera und Mikrofon, stabile Internetverbindung, gültige campusID
Dieses Modul orientiert sich am Gemeinsamen europäischen Referenzrahmen für Sprachen.

This interactive course is aimed at students who would like to develop their spoken English skills specifically for success at university and in professional contexts. In this course you will prepare and practice giving an interactive poster presentation, learn how to moderate and take part in interdisciplinary discussions, and present an idea for a product or a service in a short pitch. Supporting activities include producing reflective writing and giving recommendations and feedback to others.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- effectively and confidently give a clear poster presentation, highlighting key points, describing data and guiding the audience through the sections of the poster,
- use persuasive techniques, rhetorical techniques, story-telling and market analysis models to effectively and confidently present an idea or a product,
- follow up on interesting points and questions raised by listeners with fluency and ease of expression, taking non-verbal communication into account,
- take part in interdisciplinary discussions, formulating ideas and opinions with precision,
- moderate discussions, guiding the dialogue skillfully and relating contributions to those of other speakers.
