Admission with Advanced Standing
Applicants who were previously enrolled in the same or a similar program in Germany or abroad may be granted advanced standing.
Application deadlines
- each summer semester: March 15
- each winter semester: September 15
TH Köln must have received all documents by this date.
Applicants who have already passed exams in comparable courses at their previous university can have their academic achievements recognized and may be granted advanced standing, i.e. they will be placed in an advanced semester.
It will be decided at the time of enrollment in which semester a student will be placed. However, this decision is not final until after credit transfers have been evaluated, which happens after enrollment.

How to apply for admission with advanced standing
The applications process for admission with advanced standing differs from the regular applications process. Applicants cannot yet apply through our online application platform. If you want to apply for admission with advanced standing, you need to complete an application form (available for download below) and mail it along with all required documents to the address indicated on the form.
During the application period the application forms are available for download on this site. They are usually published
- in mid-February for the summer semester
- in mid-August for the winter semester.
