Environment & Resources Management with focus on Latin America & the Caribbean (ENREM Double Degree)

The Double Degree Master's Program "Environment and Resources Management (ENREM)" contributes to development cooperation between Latin America and Germany in a local, regional, and global context. The program understands development as a transition to sustainability in four dimensions: social, economic, and ecological sustainability as well as governance.

A cooperation of the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP), Mexico und the TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences, Germany

The Latin America and the Caribbean region (LAC) encompass a huge diversity of landscapes and ecosystems and is highly heterogeneous in terms of economic development and social and Indigenous history. The region faces serious challenges such as climate change and natural hazards; and under conditions of population growth, urbanization and industrialization, efficient environmental policies and programs are required to sustainably manage the natural resources.

Therefore, the ENREM Program offers competencies and skillsets for assessing the multidimensional challenges, sustainable use of natural resources and environmental opportunities concerning the transformation of the Latin American region towards resilience and resource security.

The ENREM Master's Program is a double degree program of the Faculty of Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems (TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences) and the Multidisciplinary Postgraduate Program for Environmental Sciences (PMPCA acronym in Spanish) at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi.

+ What do we offer?

The international Master's program ENREM offers numerous opportunities:

  • Two degrees in two years: Students acquire an individual master’s degree from each university.
  • Professional expertise and expansion of your knowledge: An opportunity to look at the environmental problems and solutions in Latin America from both local and global perspectives through PMPCA and F12. The master's thesis can also explore regional contexts in a Latin American country, maximizing the benefits of each university's strengths.
  • Personal development: Experiencing two diverse cultures and higher education systems strengthens personal qualities, and soft skills as well as intercultural competence.
  • International networking: Networking with international students, being part of alumni networks of both universities, establishing an own global contact network.

+ Continuous quality assurance

The double degree program is fully integrated into the national master’s degree programs of both universities.
