Logistics (Bachelor's program) – Program Content

The bachelor's degree in logistics is an on-site degree program with regular lectures, exercises, seminars and practical training. In addition, project-oriented transfer of knowledge forms an integral part of the program. Study plan

A modern, solid and application-oriented degree program is offered in seven semesters with experienced professors and lecturers. The principle is: as much theory as necessary, as much practice, dialogue and application examples as possible. The study plan shows the chronological sequence of the degree program.

Fundamental modules

The Fundamentals of Business Administration and Economics form the foundation of the degree program. Selected soft skills and management techniques will be imparted. English serves as an international communication standard and is a prerequisite for successful studies and later career development.

Obligatory and optional modules

In the further course of studies, students can deepen their knowledge of the many facets of logistics management and select individual areas of specialization from the key areas of distribution, production, procurement and waste disposal logistics as well as from comprehensive and deepening subjects such as Business Process Modeling and IT. The degree program offers a selection of up-to-date and highly exciting electives and advanced modules.

Project

In the 5th semester, students analyze complex problems from business practice under the guidance of the lecturers in the so-called project and find a solution.

Internship semester

The internship semester provides an insight into the work of logistics in a company and is scheduled for the 6th semester. This allows you to apply the theoretical knowledge you have acquired in practice and gives you a first insight into the diverse range of tasks. This means that the decision for a specific field is already encouraged during your studies and you are properly prepared for the start of your career. It is particularly useful to think about the bachelor thesis that will conclude your studies when choosing your internship semester placement.

During an information session on the practical semester, students are informed about the requirements and the organization of the internship semester. In addition, company representatives from the logistics sector are invited to present themselves in lectures or at exhibition stands. This gives students the opportunity to make contacts and obtain information directly.
Students apply for an internship semester in Germany or abroad directly to the companies. So please organize yourself well in advance. The Institute of Production and the Schmalenbach Institute help with the search for internship companies and organize special information events for the internship semester.

Bachelor's thesis

In the 7th semester the preparation of the bachelor's thesis is planned. Topics often arise from practical work in the 6th semester or are developed together with the supervising professors, for example in the context of research projects or industrial projects.  Many companies offer students the opportunity to solve concrete logistics problems and to present this in their Bachelor's thesis. Please observe the citation guidelines of your institute or the professors who supervise you.
