Frequently asked questions on TH Köln's campus management system (CaMS)

Registration, application and enrollment

+ I have registered as an applicant but did not receive a welcome email. What can I do?

First, please check whether the welcome email is in your spam or junk folder.

Please verify that you have entered the correct email address when registering and that you have checked the corresponding mailbox.

Please contact bewerbung@th-koeln.de stating your full name and date of birth to find out which email address is stored for you in CaMS and, if necessary, ask for the welcome email to be sent to you again.

+ I have registered in CaMS several times but none of my user names work. What can I do?

Generally, the first user name with your personal password is valid. If you have forgotten both, please contact bewerbung@th-koeln.de stating your full name and date of birth. You will then receive your currently valid user name and a temporary password to log in again.

+ I have already applied in a previous application phase, but have NOT started studying at TH Köln. Now I would like to apply again. Do I need to register again?

Your login information from past semesters is still valid.

If you have forgotten your login details, please select the option "Forgot your login information?".

+ I applied for a degree at TH Köln via Uni-Assist. Do I also need to register in CaMS?

As soon as the application phase at TH Köln starts and your application documents have been checked and approved by Uni-Assist, a user name will be created for you in CaMS. You will receive an email with the login information which you can enter in CaMS under “Login for applicants”.

+ I would like to apply in CaMS using my BID and BAN from Hochschulstart, but I receive an error message that the Applicant ID I entered is already in use. What can I do?

If you have already applied with this BID and BAN in a previous procedure, you can log in and apply with the same login details (user name and password) as you did then.

If you do not have these details anymore or if you receive an error message, please contact bewerbung@th-koeln.de stating your full name and date of birth. We will then send you your valid login details.

+ I have applied for a degree program at TH Köln via Hochschulstart / DoSV. My personal details have changed in the meantime. However, I cannot edit them in CaMS. What can I do?

You can change your personal details via Hochschulstart / DoSV. The changes will then be transferred to CaMS automatically.

+ I have received a Letter of Admission. Where and how can I enroll?

Log in to CaMS under “Login for applicants”.

After logging in, select the quicklink “Application for admission” on the home page.

Under “Submitted applications”, select “Request enrollment” for the respective program and go through the online enrollment process.

+ I have already gone through the online enrollment process and uploaded files for another program. Now I cannot upload updated files for the new enrollment because the fields are already filled. What can I do?

For past applicants, there is an additional upload field named “Documents for your new enrollment”. Please upload the files needed for your new enrollment in this field.

Login problems

+ I have gone through the online enrollment process, but now I can no longer log in with my user name. What can I do?

Once you are enrolled at TH Köln, you are assigned a campusID in CaMS.

You will receive an email with your login details to activate your campusID.

When your campusID is activated, you can go to the “Students” section in CaMS and log in using the “campusID login” button.

+ I have not received an activation email with my campusID and cannot log in to CaMS anymore. What can I do?

First, please check whether the activation email is in your spam or junk folder.

Please verify that you have entered the correct email address when registering and that you have checked the corresponding mailbox.

Please contact bewerbung@th-koeln.de stating your full name and date of birth to find out which email address is stored for you in CaMS and, if necessary, ask for the activation email with your campusID to be sent to you again.

+ I have received the activation email for my campusID, but I cannot log in to CaMS. What can I do?

Please activate your new campusID in the campusID-Center.

After activating it, you can go to the “Students” section in CaMS and log in using the “campusID login” button.

+ I have studied at TH Köln until eight months ago, but I can no longer log in using my campusID. What can I do?

Your campusID has been set to inactive. Please contact bewerbung@th-koeln.de stating your full name and date of birth to have your campusID reactivated and receive a new activation email.

+ I would like to log in to CaMS via the Home page, but I get the error message “Your login was not successful. Please check your username and password and try it again.” What can I do?

Please always use the respective user-specific subpage for Applicants, Studensts or Staff to log in. The login on the home page is only used for the function “Forgot your login information?”.

If you are a student and you receive this error message when logging in via the “Students” subpage, please contact our Campus IT: support@campus-it.th-koeln.de.

If you are an applicant and you receive this error message when logging in via the “Applicants” subpage, please contact bewerbung@th-koeln.de stating your full name and date of birth.

Transcripts of records and other certificates/confirmations/documents

+Where can I find my certificate of enrollment?

To download your certificate of enrollment, go to the student service section of CaMS. You will find your certificate of enrollment in the ‘Certificates’ tab. Your BAföG certificate is also available for download in this section.

+ How do I get a BAföG certificate?

Various types of transcripts of records are available.
The standard document entitled "Transcript of Records" contains all the information required by the BAföG office.

+ Where can I find my transcript of records?

Your transcript of records and other certificates/confirmations are available in the Student Services section under "Confirmations / Certificates", or in the My achievements section. You can access both sections directly from your home page.

Re-registration

+Am I re-registered?

The information if your re-registration was successful i.e. you are enrolled for the current semester is displayed in CaMS: Go to the student service section. Your current enrollment status is displayed right under the headline “Student service”.

+I paid the semester fee but I am not re-registered. Why?

It is likely that a re-registration block prevents your re-registration. Please go to the student service section and select the tab ‘Blocks’. You will find information on how to remove the re-registration block.

+Where can I get information on my re-registration? What are TH Köln’s bank details?

To find this information, go to the student service section and select the tab ‘Payments’. Make sure to use the reference provided so that your payment can be registered in CaMS without delay.

+What is the exact amount I need to pay?

Go to the student service section and select the tab ‘Payments’ to find out the exact amount you need to pay.

Leave of absence

+How can I apply for a leave of absence?

You can submit your application for a leave of absence through CaMS. Go to the section “Applications and requests” and start the application process. Supporting documents can also be uploaded to CaMS.

+I need a confirmation that I am currently on a leave of absence. Where can I find that?

Once your leave of absence has been confirmed (i.e. once your application for a leave of absence has been approved AND we have received your payment), a certificate of enrollment with a remark “on leave of absence” will be available for download in CaMS (student service section, tab ‘Certificates’)

Contact information

+Where can I change my contact information?

You can change your contact information in CaMS. Go to the student service section and select the tab ‘Contact information’. You can edit your information by clicking on the pen icon.

+Do I need a TAN to change my contact information or to download certificates?

No, you do not need TANs to use these functions of CaMS.

Disenrollment

+I do not want to continue my studies at TH Köln. How can I request to be disenrolled?

You can submit a request to be disenrolled through CaMS. To do so, go to the section "Applications and requests" and then select "Disenrollment". Please select a reason for your disenrollment. You can also adjust your disenrollment date (if required) before you submit your request. 

+ I have been disenrolled but I want to continue my studies. What can I do?

Please check

1) if there is a re-registration block that prevented your re-registration. To do so, go to the student service section and select the tab “Blocks”.

2) if you paid the entire semester fee by the deadline. Please visit our website for information on the semester fee and re-registration deadline:

Please get in touch with the Office of Student Services on your Campus immediately to find out if it is still possible to cancel your disenrollment.

+ Where do I find my certificate of disenrollment?

If you requested to be disenrolled (for additional information, please visit www.th-koeln.de/leave_thk) or if you were disenrolled by TH Köln, a certificate of disenrollment will be available for download in the ‘Certificates’ tab of the Student service section. Your notification of disenrollment as well as your pension insurance certificate are also available for download in the same section. After your disenrollment, you will continue to have access to CaMS for another eight months. We thus recommend that you download and/or print all important documents (i.e. also certificates of enrollment and BAföG certificates, if applicable) while you can still access CaMS.

+I cannot properly download my certificates to my smartphone. Why is that?

Certificates in CaMS are always PDF files. Please install a PDF reader to your phone to view these documents.

+I have been disenrolled. How can I update my mailing address (e.g. to receive my graduation documents by mail) or receive certificates?

After your disenrollment you will continue to have access to CaMS for another eight months. During this time, you can still edit your contact information in the student service section of CaMS. We recommend that you download and/or print all important documents (i.e. also certificates of enrollment and BAföG certificates, if applicable).

General questions about examination management in CaMS

+ Where can I see when my program is going to move its examination management to CaMS?

The new examination management feature in CaMS is being rolled out step by step. All programs at TH Köln were grouped into clusters. On the following page, you can check when your program will start managing examinations in CaMS:

+ Is anything changing for me in if my program is not yet managing examinations in CaMS?

With the implementation of the new examination management feature into CaMS, the home page has changed for all students of TH Köln. Students whose programs will start using the feature after 2025 can already see new menu items like "Study Planner" and "My achievements". However, these sections will remain empty for as long as their program's examination management is still carried out in PSSO.

+ Do I need TANs for the examination management in CaMS?

No, TANs are not required to use CaMS.

+ Where can I find the date, time and location of my examination in CaMS?


There are several ways to look up all relevant information about your examinations:

1. In the Study Planner via the door symbol of the respective module examination:
Select the door symbol next to the relevant module. There, you can find detailed information about the examination.

2. In the Study Planner via the door symbol next to number 974:
Select the door symbol to display all examinations for which you can register or have already registered. Here, you can also find detailed information about the individual examinations.

3. Via the menu item My enrollments:
Here, you can also find additional information about your examinations.

If the required information is not displayed in CaMS or if you have further questions regarding the examination dates, please contact your Office of Examination Services on your campus.

+ Who can help me if I have difficulties with the examination management in CaMS?

Please ask your Office of Student and Examination Services for assistance.

Registering for examinations and cancelling exam registrations

+ How can I register for examinations in CaMS?

You can register for examinations via the Study Planner. You can use either of the following two options:

1. Each module examination has a door symbol. Registration is possible for all examinations whose door symbol has a green arrow.

2. Alternatively, you can select the door symbol next to number 974 to display all examinations for which registration is possible.

+ I want to register for an examination in CaMS, but it does not work. Why?

There may be various reasons why you cannot register. Please contact your Office of Student and Examination Services.

+ How can I cancel my registration for an examination?

There are several ways to cancel a registration for an examination:

1. In the Study Planner via the door symbol of the respective module examination:
Select the door symbol next to the relevant module to cancel your registration.

2. In the Study Planner via the door symbol next to number 974:
Select the door symbol to display all examinations for which you can register or have already registered. Next to those, you can select the button "Cancel/Change" to cancel your registration for an examination.

3. Via the menu item My enrollments:
Here, you can also cancel your registrations for examinations.

+ How can I register for examinations that are not part of my program?

You can register for examinations from other programs by sending an email to the Office of Examination Services responsible for the program offering the module examination. The team will register you manually. If you want to cancel your registration, please also send them an email.

Please keep the respective faculty's deadlines for registering and cancelling registrations in mind, as they may vary.

If the program offering the examination is already using the examination management feature in CaMS, you will be able to see your registration and generate a transcript of records in CaMS.

If the examination is part of a program that is still managing examinations in PSSO, you will find your registration and transcript of records in PSSO.

+ Where in CaMS do I find information on the registration and deregistration periods for examinations?

Information on these periods is available in the Study Planner.
You can filter the list to only display examinations and assessments with planned dates.
Below the respective examination (examinations have a medal symbol), you will find the periods for registering or cancelling registrations for examinations.

Thesis and graduation

+ How do I register for my thesis in CaMS?

Registering for a final thesis is not possible in CaMS. The relevant forms are available on our website: www.th-koeln.de/programs.

Select your program and go to the section "Forms and Regulations". The registration form for the thesis is available for download under "Forms".

+ When (and how) will I receive my graduation documents?

Your provisional certificate of graduation will be available for download in CaMS. Your graduation documents (certificate, examination certificate and diploma supplement) will be sent to you by registered mail.
