Degree seeking students

If you are seeking a Bachelor or Master´s degree at TH Köln there are different criteria and ways of application. Please consult the homepage of the International Office. Information about the contents of the programmes you get here.

Exchange students

  • Wintersemester: September – February
  • Sommersemester: March –August

The seminars of the winter semester begin in the middle of September and for the summer semester in the middle of March. Please check the exact date in the academic calendar.

Language requirements

The language of instruction is German. In order to take part in the seminars, you need and have to prove a level of at least B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

English friendly courses

Nevertheless, our faculty is establishing more and more courses in English in the near future. Currently, we already offer some “English friendly courses”, which can be seen by following the link.

“English friendly courses” (efc) means, that the language of instruction is still German, but you can ask for support in English:

  • ask questions and receive answers in English
  • if requested, receive advice on learning material in English
  • opportunity to be tested in English

German courses

The TH Köln offers a variety of language course. These courses are organized by the Sprachlernzentrum (SLZ). Some of the courses “German for foreigners” take place at the Campus Südstadt.

Please ask your home university if the ECTS (European credit transfair system) obtained by a language course can be recognized in the learning agreement.

Internships

It is possible to complete the obligatory work placement in Cologne. The placements have to meet special requirements in order to be accepted.

Further, you should consider that you need very good German language skills for direct contact with clients in Germany.

However, the faculty will be able to arrange for supervision and theoretical seminars, if required by your home university.

After checking the individual possibilities and conditions of the internship, you can join the mandatory accompanying and supervising seminars of the faculty which take place mainly in the summer semester.

Please ask the contact person of our faculty in relation of international internships, Yildiz Yanboludan.
