  • AKT@HoME, 2024-2026
Climate change brings with it a number of expected shifts such as severe heatwaves or flooding. In order to counteract the consequences, Cologne's neighborhoods must increase their resilience and take measures. To this end, this project will compare two neighborhoods: The area around Keupstraße in Mülheim and the area around Volksgartenstraße in Südstadt. Here, measures are to be developed and implemented through participatory citizen involvement to improve the quality of life in the face of the expected climate shifts. The project is funded by the Rheinenergie Foundation.

  • Citynature-based Solutions Integration To Local Urban Infrastructure Protection For A Climate Resilient Society (NBSINFRA), 2023-2026
NBSINFRA will demonstrate that the nature-based solutions: (a) are technically feasible for protecting critical infrastructure from hazards, (b) are socially acceptable and cost-effective at the local level, and (c) are effective in empowering communities by strengthening their environmental, social and economic resilience. To achieve this goal, NBSINFRA will establish five “City Labs” across Europe: Finhal in Ireland, Aveiro in Portugal, Ruse in Bulgaria, Prague in the Czech Republic and Cologne in Germany. The TH will be responsible for the City Lab Cologne. Funding by the European Commission (HORIZON Research and Innovation Actions)
