Support services for the internationalization of study programmes
Offering its students an attractive range of study courses at a high academic level that is relevant to the job market and society is one of the main objectives of TH Köln. Internationalization has an integral place in this, as is evident, for example, in the anchoring of the two criteria of global citizenship and internationalization in the Strategic Guidelines for Studies and Teaching (available only in German). Similarly, the Internationalization Strategy also formulated a number of objectives that focus on the internationalization of degree programs (including Objectives II.1-1, II.3-1). Not least due to the different academic cultures and formats of the study programs, as well as the diversity of the student body and their expectations of their studies, the internationalization of all study programs at TH Köln can only succeed if a) formats of varying scales are available and b) these can be easily implemented thanks to appropriate support services.
In order to achieve this, professors, academic staff and directors of study programs are supported through this initiative of Connecting Dots. Using a blended learning approach, the aim is to design, integrate and optimize international formats in the course of setting up new degree programs or reaccrediting existing ones. Thus – in the spirit of a learning organization – these formats for internationalization of study degrees are being constantly developed and optimized.
As part of Connecting Dots, support services will be implemented for (initially) five formats for the internationalization of study programs until the end of 2027. The support services consist of four components that are closely interlinked both structurally and in terms of personnel: an online portal, videos, guidelines, and dialogue formats. We will keep you updated on the progress of this initiative and all planned events on this page.
