Scholarships for people affected by the war against Ukraine

TH Köln is pleased to be able to award scholarships to Ukrainian students with §16b or §24 Residence Act as well as guest scholars affected by the war against Ukraine. The scholarships are sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funding of the Federal Foreign Office and the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Scholarships for Ukrainian students of TH Köln with §16b Residence Act

The main aim of this scholarship is to support Ukrainian students who are experiencing financial worries due to the war in their home country, so that their studies and their stay in Germany are not additionally endangered. The scholarships are sponsored by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office.

We offer a 4-month scholarship (01.09.-31.12.2023) of up to 934 EUR.

The application deadline is 15 August 2023.

Applications are open to students of TH Köln:

  • who are foreign students with Ukrainian citizenship,
  • who have a residence permit in accordance with §16b Residence Act and
  • are financially in need due to the war in their home country

Scholarships for refugee students at TH Köln

Ukrainian students with §24 Residence Act in particular, but also students of other nationalities with recognised refugee status, can apply for an "NRWege ins Studium" Scholarship.

The Language Learning Centre awards scholarships with funds from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of NRW.

You have the possibility to receive a full scholarship (934 EUR per month for max. 1 year) or a partial scholarship, for example as a supplement to BAföG (300 EUR per month for max. 1 year).

The scholarship starts on 01.03.2024.

The application deadline is 15 December 2023.

Scholarships for guest scholars affected by the war against Ukraine

TH Köln is pleased to be able to award scholarships to particularly committed international scholars and university teachers who have fled from Ukraine or who have encountered hard times due to the war against Ukraine. The scholarships are sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funding of the Federal Foreign Office.

Applications are open to academics of any nationality who are affected by the war against Ukraine and who are working as guest scholars at TH Köln.

For funding purposes, we take into account the circumstance of flight, financial hardship as a result of the war against Ukraine, as well as the difficulty of returning to the respective country.

Funding is available for 1-12 months in the calendar year 2023, if applicable also backdated up to a maximum of 2,000 EUR per month.
