  • 3D VR Serious Game for Production & Logistics
The starting point of the research initiative in the field of 3DVR Serious Games is the model factory of the TH Cologne, in which students of industrial engineering study the interdisciplinary processes of a holistic production unit and apply them in practice. The model factory of the TH Köln essentially shows all workstations and processes from the metalworking industry. Here is a completely integrated process of the associated logistics IT, from the initiation of customer orders, the planning of production and ordering processes, as well as the associated processing of production including feedback and quality controls of the end products. The installed hardware includes a fully automated high-bay warehouse, a production line, CNC-controlled turning and milling machines, an industrial saw, drilling machines, robotic arms for gripping and moving materials, a laser-based engraving machine, a fully equipped quality control work area with a large number of corresponding measuring devices. The model factory and its production processes are modeled in a 3D virtual reality environment and integrated into the learning process as a 3D VR serious game. The games implemented in preliminary work have already demonstrated the great potential for improved learning processes and cost savings.
3D VR Serious Game for Production & Logistics
  • In the Proland II project, a production logistics system with transport drones is being developed. The first phases deal with the evaluation and analysis of the application scenarios and technical features of an autonomously flying drone. The logistics IT working group deals with the embedding of the scenarios for order-managing ERP systems (SAP) and with requirements for the development of a drone control system. In cooperation with: Prof. Dr. S. Freichel (TH Cologne), Prof. Dr. C. Zoller (TH Cologne), Prof. Dr. M. Gebhard (WHS Gelsenkirchen), Fa. Tünckers-Nickel GmbH, WHS Gelsenkirchen. Funded by: European Regional Development Fund ERDF
