Research at Leverkusen Campus

The research spectrum at the Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences includes relevant areas of applied pharmaceutical and chemical science. In teaching, the bachelor courses "Pharmaceutical Chemistry" and "Applied Chemistry" as well as the master courses "Applied Chemistry" and "Drug Discovery and Development" are offered.

Sustainable industrial use of baker's yeast, grapes and apples

The optimal use of renewable raw materials is becoming more and more important for industry with increasingly scarce resources. The doctoral student Josipa Lisicar from the Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences at the TH Köln is developing a system that uses the waste products in the production of baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) in an optimally sustainable and multidisciplinary manner. Zohaira El Malahi has presented her bachelor thesis on the ISPOR Annual European Congress (International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research) in November in Milan.
