Cancellation of Enrollment
Would you like to cancel your enrollment at TH Köln, i.e. drop out before classes have started? Read the information below to find out how to proceed.
You were offered admission but you have not yet submitted your enrollment documents.
No further action on your part is required. Your place will automatically be offered to another applicant if we do not hear back from you by the enrollment deadline.
You already submitted your enrollment documents to TH Köln but you have not heard back or received any further documents.
Most likely, your enrollment documents have not been processed yet due to the high volume of submissions we receive.
Please send us a cancellation request by mail without delay. Make sure to use the address indicated in your Letter of Admission (top right corner).
Once we have received the request form, your documents will be taken out of the enrollment process. If you still receive any documents from us, this is due to an overlap. In this case, we kindly ask you to return your TH Köln student ID card (called MultiCa) to us. To ensure quick processing, please indicate that you already submitted a cancellation request.
You already submitted your enrollment documents to TH Köln and also received further documents (payment request and student ID card (MultiCa).
Please send us a cancellation request and enclose your student ID card (MultiCa).

You already paid the semester fees.
a) Cancellation of enrollment by October 15 (winter semester) or by April 15 (summer semester):
Please send us
- the cancellation request form
- your student ID card (MultiCa)
- Refund request form
b) Cancellation of enrollment on or after October 16 (winter semester) or April 16 (summer semester):
After this date, it is only possible to cancel your enrollment if you can provide evidence that only now you were offered admission to another German institution of higher education and that you want to enroll at this institution. In all other cases you can request to be removed from the student register.
Please submit the following documents:
- the cancellation request form
- your student ID card (MultiCa)
- copy of the Letter of Admission from a different German Institution of Higher Education
Please send the cancellation request by mail without delay. Make sure to use the address indicated in your Letter of Admission (top right corner).
Please note:
A refund of the semester fees after October 16 (winter semester)/April 16 (summer semester) is only possible, if you actually enrolled at a different German institution of higher education. In this case, please submit the following documents within three weeks of the cancellation of your enrollment:
- Refund form
- Certificate of enrollment issued by the other institution of higher education
Otherwise you have the option to contact the General Students’ Committee (‘Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss’ (AStA)) to request a refund of your payment for your public transport pass. Additional information is available on the website of the General Students’ Committee.
