In our German as a Foreign Language modules you will systematically develop your knowledge of German by training all four language skills (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking and writing).

Additional information

This course will be offered online. You will be taking part in live sessions via Zoom as well as weekly e-learning units on ILU. Those live sessions and e-learning units are dovetailed together in terms of content and methodology and are supplemented by tasks for self-study as well as additional self-learning components.

- Live session on Zoom: Tue, 05:00 - 07:30 (3 course units per week, 45 course units in total)
- E-learning: weekly online assignments on ILU (15 course units in total)

Textbook

In class a course book will be used that all participants are expected to acquire.

Exam Components

Written exam on-site, culture studies project with complementary presentation, portfolio task, regular and active participation during the live-sessions as well as work on the e-learning-sessions

Written Exam Date

The written exam will take place on-site. The exam usually takes place in the last week of the course. Details will be provided at the start of the course.

Requirements for participation

- You are a student at TH Köln.
- You are prepared to actively engage in all class activities (this also implies turning on the camera during the Zoom sessions).
- Your German language skills are at level A1.1 (taken within the last two semesters) or by submission of a certificate (not older than two years).
- You have the necessary technical equipment to participate in digital classes: PC/laptop with camera and microphone, stable internet connection, valid campusID.

This module is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. CEFR
