Are you thinking of spending a semester abroad, but have no idea where to start? The Department of International Affairs invites you to learn more about going abroad during your studies in various Zoom sessions from November 3rd to 6th, 2025.

Whether you want to study at a partner university in Europe via the Erasmus+ program, find out more about exchange and funding opportunities outside Europe, complete an internship abroad or share your own experiences - we have the right information event for you.

Go Global is a regular event to which we invite you every semester in April and November.

Monday, 3rd November 2025

+ 10 a.m. - 12 noon: Go Global - what options do I have?

Studying in Europe sounds appealing, but so does an internship in Asia, and what about a language courses or a double degree? 
Are you interested in spending time abroad but don't yet have a clear idea of how and when you can make it happen? 
Here you can get an overview of the most common options for spending time abroad and, of course, ask questions.
By the end of the session, you will know what types of stays abroad are available, where you can apply for them, and what financing options exist.
The session marks the start of the “Go Global” event series. To gain a deeper insight into the opportunities presented in the session, please feel free to attend the follow-up events on the individual topics.

The event will be held in German.

+ 5 p.m. - 7 p.m: Go Global - what options do I have?

For those who did not have time in the morning, we are offering this session again in the late afternoon.

Tuesday, 4th November 2025

+ 10 a.m. - 12 noon: Preparation is half the job & meet our returnees

When it comes to major projects in life, it often proves true that good, thorough preparation is extremely helpful. In this session, our Local Erasmus Initiative will report on their own preparations for their semesters abroad. 
The International Mobility team will highlight the support options available to students who need more assistance when going abroad due to a disability, chronic illness or mental health condition. Students who are studying with children will also find information here about the support options available to them.
In the second hour, there will again be the opportunity to network with students who are currently abroad or who were abroad last semester. You won't find more up-to-date information anywhere else!"

+ 12 noon - 2 p.m.: Go Global with PIONEER - Meet our PIONEER partner universities on campus

Since 2025, TH Köln has been part of the European university alliance PIONEER, consisting of 10 European partner universities. Find out more about the opportunities offered by the alliance in personal conversations. At our information stands, you will have the chance to talk directly to representatives of our PIONEER partner universities and learn more about the respective universities. Drop by and discover your opportunities with PIONEER!

Wednesday, 5th November 2025

+ 10 a.m. - 12 noon: Study worldwide + meet our returnees

In this session, you will learn about the various options for completing a semester abroad with a university partner outside the Erasmus area. You will also receive information on the PROMOS and HAW.international scholarship programs, as well as the option of organizing your semester abroad yourself as a freemover.

The event language is German.

Students from the Multilingual Communication programme will simultaneously translate this session into English on separate audio channels.

+ 12 noon - 2 p.m.: Internship abroad + meet our returnees

In this event, we will provide you with important information and tips for planning and preparing an internship abroad. We will also give you an overview of funding opportunities. In the second half, students who have already completed an internship abroad will share their experiences with you and answer your questions. At the end, IAESTE will introduce itself in a short presentation.

The event language is German.

Thursday, 6th November 2025

+ 10 a.m. - 12 noon: Study in Europe

Studying in Europe sounds good - but still no clear idea how? Here you will get a brief but comprehensive overview of your options. Afterwards, you can exchange ideas and network in breakout sessions with TH students who have returned or are currently abroad, as well as fellow students who will be leaving in the winter semester.

+ 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.: Discover Exchange Opportunities in the PIONEER University Alliance

Discover the possibilities of PIONEER! Since 2025, TH Köln has been part of this European university alliance of 10 partner universities. There are exciting opportunities for exchange within the alliance. At this information event, you will learn first-hand how an exchange program at one of our PIONEER partner universities can enrich your studies. Hear personal testimonials from students who have already spent a semester at a PIONEER partner university and be inspired by the representatives of the alliance, who will introduce you to the diverse opportunities and programs at their universities.
