In our German as a Foreign Language modules you will systematically develop your knowledge of German by training all four language skills (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking and writing).

Additional information

The module will be offered as an on-site course with online components. It consists of on-site course meetings and weekly e-learning units on ILU. The on-site and e-learning units are dovetailed in terms of content and methodology and are supplemented by tasks for self-study as well as additional self-learning components.

- On-site sessions: Mon, 01:00-04:15 pm, Campus Gummersbach (4 course units per week, 46 course units in total)
- E-learning sessions: will be taking place every week on ILU (14 course units in total)

Textbook

In class a course book will be used that all participants are expected to acquire.

Please note: The number of ECTS credits refers to the amount of work associated with a course. One credit corresponds to a workload of 25-30 hours. We recommend that you take this into account when registering for a language module.

Exam Components

Written exam, cultural studies project with presentation, portfolio task, regular and active participation in the course meetings as well as completion of the e-learning units

Written Exam Date

The exam usually takes place in the last week of the course. Details will be provided at the start of the course.

Requirements for participation

- You are a student at TH Köln, Faculty 10 (Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering Science).
- You are prepared to actively engage in all class activities.
- Your German language skills are at level A1.1 (taken within the last two semesters) or by submission of a certificate (not older than two years).
- You have the necessary technical equipment to participate in the E-Learning units: PC/laptop with camera and microphone, stable internet connection, valid campusID.

This module is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. CEFR
