The project programme "Georgia - Codicology and Preventive Conservation" of manuscripts aims at broad-based cooperation in teaching and research in the field of manuscript sciences. The exchange of Georgian and German students, academic staff, and lecturers ensures the basis for research-based learning and teaching formats. The implementation of didactic courses sustainably strengthens the teaching conditions.

The broad design of the project links fields of knowledge from the humanities, history, conservation and natural sciences in the field of codicology and preventive conservation. This versatile and interdisciplinary approach forms the basis for several interdisciplinary research questions. Due to the project several competences by the participants will be strengthened: the professionial competence as well as methodological competences on behalf of manuscript sciences and their preventive handling. Through the joint events, social competence is promoted in the long term, which can also be seen in the increased self-competence of the students in particular. The cooperation between this range of universities, and institutions guarantees the multidisciplinary approach, which goes hand in hand for understanding, appreciating, and exchanging all matters, facts, and research questions concerning manuscripts.
