Requirements for participation
- This workshop is primarily aimed at international degree-seeking students from German and English-speaking STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), but it is also open to international students from other disciplines at TH Köln.
- You are prepared to actively engage in all class activities.
- If you are enrolled in a degree program taught in German: Your English language skills are at level B2, proven by SLZ placement test (taken within the last two semesters) or by submission of a certificate (not older than two years).
- You have the necessary technical equipment: PC/laptop with camera and microphone, stable internet connection, valid campusID.
This workshop is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

When working in international teams, you may encounter specific challenges when it comes to communicating effectively. In our workshop you will simulate and analyze different types of interaction common in the German workplace.
On successful completion of the workshop, you will be able to:
- identify potentially sensitive or difficult situations
- apply communicative strategies in order to respond in effective and culturally appropriate ways
- critically analyze and discuss company values and philosophies at home and in Germany.
