Go East Summer Schools 2023

Within the initiative "Go East", the DAAD would like to support more students from Germany for study and research stays in the countries of Central, Southeastern and Eastern Europe as well as South Caucasus and Central Asia.

In order to spark interest among young academics, the DAAD supports German students who wish to participate in summer schools in the Go East program. These training events are offered each year by universities in the region on a wide range of topics. The program is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

From March 01, 2023, it will be possible for students to apply to one of the 33 summer schools in the following countries:

  • Albania,
  • Armenia,
  • Azerbaijan,
  • Czech Republic,
  • Estonia,
  • Hungary,
  • Kazakhstan,
  • Kosovo,
  • Kyrgyzstan,
  • Lithuania,
  • Poland,
  • Romania,
  • Serbia,
  • Tajikistan,
  • Ukraine,
  • Uzbekistan.

The two-track application procedure requires interested parties to apply to the summer school for admission and to the DAAD for a scholarship. The application deadline in the DAAD portal is identical to the application deadline of the respective summer school.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to German students of all disciplines who are enrolled as regular students at universities and universities of applied sciences.

Under certain conditions, persons with foreign citizenship can also be included in the funding measures:
