Improving recruitment

By 2030, TH Köln will have to recruit at least 136 new professors. But the career path to a professorship at a university of applied sciences is considered unpredictable; what little information there is can often only be found in networks. This needs to change so that the career stages leading up to a professorship can be as diverse as the student body.

To achieve this, TH Köln is researching and testing alternative recruitment methods as part of the staff development program "Rethinking professorial careers at universities of applied sciences: Collaboration and networking" (PLan_CV). As a university of equal opportunity, TH Köln aims to increase diversity among university members, especially with regard to gender, nationality, educational background, and disability.

For this purpose, the gender balance and the diversity gap between students and new professors are assessed. This data and the results of qualitative studies on the early promotion of junior researchers is used to develop programs for International Fellows, students and faculty.
