Blended Short Mobility (BSM)

Would you like to gain experience abroad but, for various reasons, are unable to undertake a long-term stay? The Blended Short Mobility (BSM) offers you the opportunity to spend five days at a partner university as part of a student group, combined with online learning phases. The programme is organised by the departmental coordinators in your department.

Just popping out for a bit? – Short-term mobility under the Erasmus+ programme

Inclusion is a central component of the current generation of the Erasmus+ programme. For students who, for various reasons, are unable to undertake a long-term stay abroad, Blended Short Mobility (BSM) offers an ideal alternative. Unlike participation in a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), short-term mobility (BSM) can take place between just two partner universities. A Blended Short Mobility comprises a short physical phase (5–30 days) at a partner university of TH Köln, as well as a virtual phase before, during or after the stay. This promotes collaborative online exchange – for example, students from different countries work together digitally on course content or projects. The virtual component facilitates contact and supports teamwork during the programme.

Requirements for participating in a BSM

  • BSM participants are enrolled students at TH Köln and are aiming to obtain a degree from TH Köln.
  • At least 3 ECTS credits must be awarded for successful participation.
  • There is still sufficient Erasmus+ funding quota available for the participating students’ current study level.
  • An inter-institutional agreement has been concluded with the other higher education institution, which permits mobility in a blended format.
  • The funding application was submitted on time.
  • Unfortunately, a BSM is not suitable for exchange students who are currently spending a semester or year abroad at TH Köln.

Funding rates for participation in a BSM
