MEnergy - My Energy Transition
Acceptance of technologies for the implementation of the energy transition through innovative communication formats
The project MEnergy - My Energy Transition (“MEnergie - Meine Energiewende") is being carried out jointly by the interdisciplinary team of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, the Wuppertal Institut and the corporate partner World of VR for a period of 3 years.
The success of the energy transition depends heavily on stakeholder acceptance. The social discourse on the energy transition is riddled with prejudices, reservations and misinformation. The content, benefits and necessity of the energy transition are often not understood. Therefore, MEnergy’s goal is to increase the acceptance of the energy transition through new communication formats that are developed together with stakeholders. Augmented and virtual reality, are used. These technologies have a strong representational power and, because of their immersive nature, allow users to experience knowledge as an active experience.
Four stakeholder groups were defined in advance, but these can still be adapted in the course of the project. Both Generation Y (born between 1980 and 1996) and Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2012) are important target groups in the discourse on the energy transition as current or future decision-makers. In addition, there is untapped potential among the groups of citizens in the low-income sector and real estate owners.
