Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems

The Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems Cologne (LFK) conducts research and development with a high degree of practical relevance at the interfaces between production technology and information and communication technology. The aim is to contribute to the transformation of the manufacturing industry towards intelligent and sustainable production systems. The application and further development of digitally connected technologies such as Internet-of-Things solutions, artificial intelligence and new human-technology interfaces are crucial to this. Their application enables the digital transformation of business and production processes. Digitally connected technologies thus serve as a key enabler for business optimization and help to implement circular value creation.

Capabilities

Planning and coordination of R&D projects as well as the analysis and optimization of production systems and manufacturing processes are our core capabilities. Furthermore, the LFK supports companies in the development and realization of digitally connected manufacturing systems. We have already successfully demonstrated and continuously developed these skills in numerous cooperation projects. Our strengths also include the realization of prototypes, a high degree of agility and flexibility as well as strong interdisciplinary networking. In this way, we provide our partners with the best possible support on the path from idea to implementation.
