Scientific Data Visualization
Workshop for Doctoral Researchers, 11. Mai 2023
Visualizing data is a crucial part of research projects. In fact, data visualization enables us to generate knowledge from mere information. And visualizing research on posters or slides lets us communicate and distribute our ideas. This workshop sheds light on the when and how of good scientific visual communication.

Learning goals:
- to understand and apply the principals of good (scientific) data visualization
- to be able to conceptualize, design and create scientific posters and slide decks
Data sets are the driver of many research projects. But without visualizing data, we humans would have a hard time to generate knowledge. In fact, data visualization is the language to understand, analyze and communicate research. This workshop sheds light on the when and how of visual communication, comes with real-life examples and presents tools of the trade for successful poster and slide deck designs.
Material needed:
- notebook computer with internet connection
- pencil and paper
- optional and if available: own data to visualize
Evaluation note: In this workshop an evaluation will take place.
