KISDtalks: Theories and Practice of Design
Keez Duyves, artist, inventor, founder of "PIPS:lab", Amsterdam
KISD – Köln International School of Design
The Dutch theater troupe "PIPS:lab" is internationally renowned for its innovative, unique multimedia performances. Crafting their own bespoke software, the members have become leaders in interactive performance, manipulating light, sound and image in previously unimagined ways. The performers constantly combine art forms to create new works in which technology plays a theatrical part. The audience is involved using interactive techniques, fiction and reality are mashed up, the footage is always recorded live, high tech is made low brow, all elements of a show or installation are visible on stage. In this performative lecture, the artist Keez Duyves presents his inventions and discusses the possibilities and constraints of using technology on stage via selected examples.
The talk will be held in English language.
The KISDtalks are a public lecture series on relevant perspectives of design. They give open space for an open-minded and profound analysis of current and future issues of design, culture, society, technology, and different scientific disciplines. Topics are interdisciplinary, integrative, and provide internationality by domestic and international speakers.
The KISDtalks always take place on Tuesday at 5.30 pm. The 60-90 minutes-long presentations with “Q&A“ are a public event and free of charge.
