KISDtalk: Theories and Practice of Design , 10. Juli 2018
In this public lecture, Dipl. Des. Thorsten Frackenpohl will elaborate on the current debate on what decides our lives in the future: is it pure technology that we are falling victim to? Or are we emancipating ourselves through positive individual and common (design) undertakings – establishing and producing life enriching experiences?

KISD is looking forward to welcoming Dipl. Des. Thorsten Frackenpohl as a guest speaker for the last KISDtalk in the summer term 2018. This is what Thorsten says about his upcoming talk on the topic of "Designing for Life Enriching Experiences".
"Our society is changing from a consumer economy to an experience economy, in which material artefacts will loose on meaning over positive experiences and use innovations. In the future design, work should even more focus on positive experiences and subjective well-being. In line with Noto´s credo 'Designing growth by enriching life', we want to promote this change and make it economically accessible. Therefore, together with our partners, the University of Siegen, the Happiness Research Organization and the interaction design agency ixdp, we develop an applicable innovation and design process, which enables us to create life-enriching experiences."
In his talk, Thorsten will give an introduction into the design for wellbeing approach and explain, how, and why certain methods can be used. At the age of 25, while still studying at KISD, Thorsten Frackenpohl co-founded the design studio Noto in 2001. Noto works for clients of all sizes from all over the world and has won numerous design awards. As Thorsten is enthusiastic about creating new structures, he helps Noto finding the right paths towards the future.
The talk will be held in English language.
