Supervision
Good supervision during the whole process of doctoral research is the key for a successful doctorate. For that reason, TH Köln advocates the conclusion of an agreement between doctoral researchers and their supervisors.

A set of guidelines written by TH Köln settles the rights and duties between doctoral researchers and their supervisors. The conclusion of this supervision agreement is highly recommended and a requirement for enrollment as a doctoral researcher and participation in the funding program “travel grants for conferences” of Graduate Center.
Good Scientific Practice
Good scientific practice requires meticulous attention on data acquisition and assessment, thorough and accountable documentation of all key results, and being open to criticism and doubts about one’s own results. The order of TH Köln, published in 2020 offers a framework for assuring good scientific practice and for handling scientific misconduct at TH Köln.
Further information
All researchers and teachers are required to comply with these rules, including doctoral researchers. Thus, it is the responsibility of the supervisors to introduce their doctoral researchers to those rules.
