Mission Statement

Our mission Statement provides a guiding framework and illustrates our commitment to cooperative teaching and researching.

The goals and values inherent in the faculty for Process Engineering, Energy and Mechanical Systems as well as our scientific identity and previous developments were derived from the mission statement of the TH Köln.

The faculty for Process Engineering, Energy and Mechanical Systems understands that providing a qualified scientific education is a part of society’s educational mandate. Our scientific and applied-based teaching, research, and continuing education contribute to sustainable continued development in engineering education. Our graduates are professional engineers in accordance with current legislation governing the engineering profession.

The developed competencies and abilities gained in the course of their studies, as well as the knowledge they acquired, enable our graduates to actively pursue and obtain suitable professional positions in a changing international labor market, sensibly participate in the societal system of work, and assume management responsibilities. This professional ability is sustainable in terms of continuing education capabilities. In this context, professional standards are understood as integrated, internationally oriented qualifications.

The faculty for Process Engineering, Energy and Mechanical Systems translates the goals of the Bologna reform into practice and focuses on student-centered and output-oriented teaching. The change in perspective in teaching from educators to students as well as competence-oriented teaching and assessment of performance are systematically implemented and pursued.

Teaching and didactics are very important in the faculty for Process Engineering, Energy and Mechanical Systems. Thus, the faculty follows the overall understanding of the TH Köln mission statement, which explicitly formulates our responsibilities to students. The members of the faculty for Process Engineering, Energy and Mechanical Systems take up these responsibilities and through good study conditions and excellent teaching, they target capabilities and skills to promote creative problem-solving and arouse enthusiasm and curiosity, which are the basis for future successful careers, and to encourage life-long learning.
