Whether you are an exchange student or degree-seeking student: Sound knowledge of the German language will facilitate your stay at TH Köln greatly. German is the language of instruction in most programs, in particular on a Bachelor’s level. Applying for Bachelor’s programs without an excellent command of German is in most cases not possible.
The Language Center of TH Köln offers a variety of language courses throughout the semester.
Exchange students from all faculties with little knowledge of the German language may participate in an intensive German course prior to the beginning of the semester. Make sure to inform yourself on the website of the Language Center about the course level and duration. Please note that a participation fee applies.
If you are interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at TH Köln but do not have sufficient knowledge of German yet, you may participate in a preparatory German course at the Language Center on Deutz Campus. This course concludes with the DSH II examination, which many German universities require international applicants to have passed prior to their enrollment. The DSH preparatory course is designed for prospective students who have already obtained a German language certificate at a B2-level. Please note that a participation fee is charged for this course.
